Autonomic Response Testing (ART)

Our Therapist is continuing study under Dr Klinghardt and incorporates aspects of ART when needed in her practice,

on a patient-by-patient basis.

What is Autonomic Response Testing?

Autonomic Response Testing (ART) is a biofeedback enhanced physical exam. Developed by Dr Dietrich Klinghardt, ART is an advanced form of muscle testing due to the sensitivity, depth and scope of its application.

About Dr Klinghardt

Dr Klinghardt is a pioneering and award-winning researcher in Psycho-neurobiology, environmental toxicity, chronic infections, family systems influences and how these lead to chronic illness and pain. He is especially well-known for his commitment towards curing Lyme disease, including Lyme induced Autism and diseases of a neurological basis like Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease.

How does ART work?

ART is a highly evolved method of muscle testing which monitors changes in muscle tone as primary indicators of infection, systemic imbalance, toxicity, unresolved psycho-emotional stress or trauma, and electromagnetic stress.

Standard applied kinesiology and other forms of muscle testing rely on the responses of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) when testing patients. However, if the ANS is itself imbalanced it can give inaccurate information.

What sets ART apart from other forms of muscle testing is that it begins by checking that the body’s ‘communication system‘,

the ANS, is balanced and healthy before moving on to the rest of the body.

Dr Klinghardt groups the causes of imbalance into 7 categories, which he calls the 7 Factors of Illness. These include:

  1. Infections and Toxins
  2. Nutritional and Biochemical Deficiencies (including adrenal and thyroid dysfunction)
  3. Allergies and Intolerances
  4. Structural Dysfunction
  5. Scars (and other interference fields)
  6. Electromagnetic, Geopathic and Biophysical Stress
  7. Unresolved Psychoemotional Trauma

Dr Dave W. Ou, MD, has written a clear but comprehensive discussion of Klinghardt’s 7 Factors of Illness, which I recommend if you want more information. To read the article, click here.

What are the benefits for me?

The sensitivity and scope of the 7 Factors approach to testing, and emphasis on maintaining balance in the ANS, makes ART a valuable addition to traditional Biomagnetic Pair Therapy and Microbioenergetics.

By combining these methods, our Therapist is able to create an individualised testing and treatment process which is both highly effective and sympathetic to the individual biological and environmental make-up of each of her clients.

Who is it suitable for?

ART is non-invasive and safe to use for patients of all ages and conditions.
